Script Independent Word Spotting in Multilingual Documents
This paper describes a method for script independent word spotting in multilingual handwritten and machine printed documents. The system accepts a query in the form of text from the user and returns a ranked list of word images from document image corpus based on similarity with the query word. The system is divided into two main components. The first component known as Indexer, performs indexi...
متن کاملOn Runs in Independent Sequences
Given an i.i.d. sequence of n letters from a finite alphabet, we consider the length of the longest run of any letter. In the equiprobable case, results for this run turn out to be closely related to the well-known results for the longest run of a given letter. For coin-tossing, tail probabilities are compared for both kinds of runs via Poisson approximation.
متن کاملRe-ranking Documents Based on Query-Independent Document Specificity
The use of query-independent knowledge to improve the ranking of documents in information retrieval has proven very effective in the context of web search. This query-independent knowledge is derived from an analysis of the graph structure of hypertext links between documents. However, there are many cases where explicit hypertext links are absent or sparse, e.g. corporate Intranets. Previous w...
متن کاملIndependent domination in directed graphs
In this paper we initialize the study of independent domination in directed graphs. We show that an independent dominating set of an orientation of a graph is also an independent dominating set of the underlying graph, but that the converse is not true in general. We then prove existence and uniqueness theorems for several classes of digraphs including orientations of complete graphs, paths, tr...
